This is the first ever "ping" between Westhoff.net and Mywesthoff.com using a technology called TrackBack. If successfull, it will usher in a new era of solidarity within the Westhoff cyberworld, bringing a little bit more harmony to an otherwise chaotic world. If it fails...well, I don't want to think about it. The ping will link this entry to an entry on Dan's site in which he pleads with Matt and Dad to get their blogging houses in order. Well said Dan.
P.S. Don't forget to view the "Quickies" column when viewing this page, it's good to see people catching the vision there!
P.P.S It worked!!! Go to Dan's blog and check out this entry, click on the "trackback" link and you will see the results--sweet! Alright Dan, your turn--send a ping my way.
If you'd like to try this at home: 1. If you want Dan (or anyone else) to be able to ping you, enable trackback on your post by selecting the "allow pings" box before you save your entry. If you don't see this box, click the "Customize the display of this page" link, select custom and make sure it is checked, along with any other fields you want displayed. 2. To ping Dan, click on the trackback link for the entry you want to link to and cut the URL from the "TrackBack URL for this entry" and paste it into the "URLs to Ping" box on your entry. Dan also needs to enable "allow pings" on Mywesthoff.com for trackback to work. I was able to do it because I happen to know his password and I got in and enabled the feature myself. If we start using this feature often, I will enable it by default on westhoff.net. I know this is heady stuff, but if you try it you will like it.
Dan, pinging westhoff.net entries will create permanent links between the two sites and automatically draw traffic to your site for related entries (i.e. no need for constant reminders, cool eh?)
I really love ya but speak English!
Precept upon precept young one--you can do it!
I don't get it, but please love me anyway.
